Holy Trinity church Brathay was built in 1836 in the Italianate design by The Redmans of Brathay Hall, the church is clad on the outside with Virginia creeper and this makes for a grand sight in the Autumn when the leaves turn red.
The Hill top site for the church was found with the help of William Wordsworth, and because of the rugged and limited area of the hill top the church was orientated North/South instead of the customary East/West but the burials are correctly orientated.
Inside the church will be found a wonderful large wooden ceiling along with a superb array of stained glass windows.
In the churchyard are some very ornate gravestones and well worth a visit.
