South West Coast Path - South Haven Point to Minehead, UK - Long Distance Hiking Trails on Waymarking.com

This path takes you along some of the best coastline in the UK. Starting at South Haven Point in the Isle of Purbeck the walk begins at the entrance to Poole Harbour. There are varied coastal views over a path stretching 630 miles. The coast is largely unspoilt and the path crosses four counties, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, ending at Minehead on the edge of the Exmoor National Park.

The path can be joined at the coastal towns along the way from car parks or along the beaches. It can be completed in stages or all in one go, with stops, of course. The path is marked with Acorn waymarker posts and covers gentle stretches as well as more challenging headlands and steep coastal valleys.

With many places to stop along the walk the website provides a list of hotels, guesthouses, B&B's, Cottages, Apartments, Holiday Parks, Caravans and Camping Grounds.

Through Dorset and Devon the walk takes you along the World Heritage Site of the Jurassic Coast with spectacular views. The Cornish coastline is rich in legend and tales of King Arthur with gorgeous views and the North Devon coast takes you along some of the best rocky outcrops and coves into Somerset.

By walking the whole path you cover 1014 kilometres and climb over 27,000 metres. You cross 17 large rivers with 15 by ferry and 2 by wading or stepping stones.
