Located in Allegheny Center, an urban re-development from the early 1970's.

The 21,000 pound anchor comes from one of the the USS Pittsburgh ships - the chain weighs about 1,000 pounds - so the entire thing is 11 tons. The USS Pittsburgh (CA-72) is a light cruiser that served in WWII. The entire bow section of the ship had broken off in a typhoon in the Pacific on June 5th 1945. The ship had a temporary replacement bow attached at Guam and then had a permanent replacement attached on the West Coast. The original bow was salvaged.
