The Village of Meadowvale saw the march of development on it's front door. The residents came together and successfully fought to preserve the community's character, and history. What they achieved was to have the entire village designated a Heritage District. Practically everything you see here on Old Derry Road is designated a Heritage Property - from Mill Ruins, to 1800's era homes, to the Village Gas Station. They are all listed in the Properties Database, as is the Village itself.
The posted co-ordinates are for the plaque marking the Village as a Heritage Conservation District.
Look north, west, east and south of here to see how the suburban sprawl of Mississauga has overtaken and surrounded the Village, yet this stands untouched. Derry Road was rerouted and the commuters taken away to the north.
