Rank and organization: Private, Company B, 4th West Virginia Infantry. Place and date: At Vicksburg, Miss., 22 May 1863. Entered service at: Mason City, W. Va. Birth: ------. Date of issue: 16 August 1894 Citation: Gallantry in the charge of the "volunteer storming party."

According to his death certificate (available at pilot.familysearch.org), he lived at 41 Livingston Ave, Columbus. He was born 23 August 23 1840 in Jackson County, West Virginia and was the son of William Parsons. (His mother's name is not listed.) He was a carpenter.
