The facility was built as a new home for Greenwood Racetrack in 1956, when it was relocated here from a location on the other side of Toronto. Today, Woodbine is a massive entertainment complex, complete with outdoor and indoor seating, casino slots and on site betting.
There are 1700 slot machines on a 56,000 square foot floor (operated by Ontario Lottery and Gaming). There are multiple restaurants and facilities for corporate events.

Woodbine is the only racetrack in North America that can offer both standardbred and thoroughbred racing on the same day.

The main poly track is a 1 mile oval (2 furlong, 7 furlong chutes)
It's 85 feet wide and features 7 Inches of Polytrack, Silica sand, rubber, fiber and wax.

P. Taylor Stakes, a grade 1 Thoroughbred race for fillies and mares Woodbine also hosts the Breeders Crown for 2-year olds and 3-year olds of both sexes and gaits (pacing/trotting) every other year.
