This treaty was consummated here on July 20, 1777, following Col. Christian's subjugation of the Cherokee, who ceded to the whites a broad domain for settlement. The North Carolina and Virginia Commissioners, led by Wraightstill Avery, and the Indian chiefs signed this pact which was soon violated by the settlers.
Located on Wilcox Drive/TN126 between Lincoln Street and Jared Drive. Next to the Eastman Chemmical Company wastewater treatment facility.
