Pactolus Ironworks: Moses Cavett built the ironworks located here before 1795. Shortly after that year, John Sevier, his son and son-in-law acquired it. It was later owned by E&E Embree, east Tennessee ironmasters, whose Pactolus Nail Factory, located 1/4 mile downriver, was operated by Jonathan Wexler.
Geocache GCHGWD is here because of the historical marker.
The foul smell in the area is due to the sewer pumping station on the other side of the road.
