Fort Patrick Henry is named after the colonial fort that was established nearby at the site of present-day Kingsport, Tennessee. The dam was built primarily for hydropower, but it is also used to regulate the flow of water downstream to ensure a reliable supply of water for local industry (Eastman Chemical Company) and for cooling water at TVA’s John Sevier Fossil Plant. The dam is run from a control room over at Boone Dam, north of Gray, TN.
There is an overlook with a few picnic tables and restrooms at the coordinates.
Fort Patrick Henry lake is a popular site for fishing, particularly rainbow trout, bluegill, bass, and crappie. Warrior’s Path State Park (Waymark WM4PHF) is located on the reservoir.

Recommend checking the discharge flows as downstream river can rise and fall very rapidly.
