I was surprised when I found this Anchor at U of H. It looks like more than a few hundred coats of paint cover this. Even the plaque has been painted so many times that you might not know what it is. At least the students know about this rather than being a forgotten piece of history.
The USS Hartford was Rear Admiral David Farragut's flagship in the civil war, in the battles of New Orleans and Vicksburg.
Another USS Hartford anchor is on display at Fort Gaines located on Dauphin Island in Mobile Bay, Alabama.
I think it will be interesting to see what the future paintings will look like.
