This gauge is located on the Charles River, just above Horseshoe Dam, in beautiful Hemlock Gorge.

This U.S.G.S. river gauge is along the Charles River in the Hemlock Gorge section of the Charles River Reservation. The station is within the town of Wellesley, but is Needham and Newton as well.
The second set of coordinates is for the nearest parking lot to the gauge.
The easiest way to the gaging station is to park at the parking lot at the intersection of Ellis Street and the off ramp to Route 9. From there, go west, along the off ramp to the bridge over the Charles River. Turn left onto a gravel-dirt fire road to the station in the river to the left. Discharge and Gage Height are measured at this location. In a stone building nearby, there is a sign about U.S.G.S. It is likely that some instruments are located there. After visiting the station, take a hike through Hemlock Gorge!
RIVER GAUGE INFORMATION:
There is a benchmark on top of the cement portion of the gauge. It is a reference mark and was put there by the U. S. Geological Survey.
There is also a sign on the door of the stone building. The picture taken is a bit overexposed and, thus, details weren't captured.
