Some say that, in the statue in the Lincoln Memorial, the profile of Robert E. Lee is visible in Abraham Lincoln's hair. Supposedly as further support for this theory, Lee faces west, looking toward his former estate, which is now Arlington Cemetery.
It is officially denied as urban legend.
All well and good to say that, but...
I don't know if it's Lee, and I'm not going to say it was purposeful on the part of sculptor Daniel Chester French, but there's definitely a profile there.
