Died: November 05, 1919 at the age of 83
Following the Wilderness Battle and the repulse of the Union Forces (May 5 - 7, 1864) General Grant pushed ahead on the Confederates' right to Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia, where he engaged Confederate General Robert E. Lee's army from May 8 - 19, with the bloodiest battle occurring on May 12. In that battle thirty-six soldiers earned Medals of Honor including Sergeant Daniel McFall who performed two separate heroic actions. When the rebel forces attacked the Union batteries, Sergeant McFall captured their commander, Colonel Barker. Later in the day when Lieutenant George Harmon, an officer of his regiment, was taken by the enemy, Sergeant McFall rescued the Union officer.
Daniel Robert McFall is buried in Rice cemetery west of Milan, MI located on Dennison Rd about 1.5 miles south of Reddman Rd.
