Description of Memorial: Small rock lined garden on a pinched off corner of the courthouse lawn. A huge boulder, accompanied by many small rocks, in which is mounted a bronze plaque, and upon which sits a cherib of an angel playing a flute. Three un-flagged flag poles flank the boulder.
Very early in the morning when I was here. I had been in Kirksville, the county just west of Knox, for a veterans funeral. I decided to take MO-15 home through some counties I had not had the pleasure to have visited in the past. Knox county was the site of a couple of Civil War battles, the Infamous Colonel Joseph Porter was from this area and His Confederate Cavalry was very active.
