This fine double-sided monument statue is located in Waldenberg Park on the River Walk at the foot of Canal Street in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana. It is very easy to find and tour as there are many parking areas near by. It should be noted that viewing this area is most enjoyable seeing it at night.
It is of white Carrara marble and is created by local sculptor Franco Allesandrini. It is dedicated to the courageous men and women who left their homeland seeking freedom, opportunity and a better life in a new country. On one side, Miss Liberty faces the mighty Mississippi, while an immigrant family faces the French Quarter, where most immigrants lived when they came to this area.
