I found this statue while exploring Anchorage on my journey to find geocaches in all 50 state in 2005.
People call this dog Balto but it isn't. It is a "generic" sled dog. This statue by Jacque and Mary Regat is "dedicated to dog mushers and all their heroic dogs."
This statue is the starting line for the Iditarod. Not the official starting line but the ceremonial start.
Be sure to log your find of the the geocache GC5A11 too.
Breed: Sled dog (sleightman dog, sledge dog, or sleddog)
 Date Built: 1989/01/01
