Along this tree lined walkway is a Walk of Heroes for Missing in Action and POWs pilots.
This particular memorial is for LCDR. M. Scott Speicher. His FA/18 Hornet vanished from the radar screens over Iraq in the 1991 Gulf war, everyone — including his family — accepted that he had been killed by a ground-to-air missile. Over the following years many reports and speculation have come in as to whether he may still be alive. Below is one of the sites describing some of this story.
