The Harrisville Grade School is a large Vernacular Victorian structure featuring a blend of Italianate and Greek Revival detail.
The school was built in 1878 and is very well perserved.
Harrisville Grade Shool was purchased by the Ritchie County Historic Museum, Inc. from the Ritchie County Board of Education. The present day museum was named the General Thomas M. Harris School Museum in honor of the Civil War Veteran who donated the original property for the purpose of community education.
