In Grafton Center is a sign about the old Praying Indian Town of Hassanamesit that was located there.

In Grafton Center, there is a sign just off the common and near the Grafton Inn that states:
"Hassanamesit
"John Eliot established here in 1651 a village of Christian Indians called Hassanamesit - "At a place of small stones." It was the home of James the Printer who helped Eliot to print the Indian Bible."
The Indian Bible was printed at Harvard College at that institution's Indian College. There is a waymark for this plaque here: (
