The first construction of Old Fisherman's Wharf dates to 1870; it has been reconstructed and expanded in length with two dock fingers added on the marina side. Until the 1950's it catered to commercial fishermen with warehouses and wholesale fish stores. Since then it has changed focus to entertaining and feeding casual tourists. Fishing is still represented by three charter fishing boat operators. There are also whale-watching boats which leave from the end of Fisherman's Wharf daily for half-day ocean tours.
