Fishing is allowed. This is also popular for wildlife viewing with seals and sea lions usually visible at the pier's north side, and for people-watching with scuba divers in the waters nearby at any time of the day or night. At night they can be seen underwater just by the glow of their lightsticks. The south side of this pier serves as the restricted dock for the Coast Guard flotilla.
