Elizabeth Hutchison Jackson (c. 1740 – November 2, 1781 Charleston, South Carolina) was the mother of US President Andrew Jackson. She was born in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, Ireland.[citation needed] She was the daughter of Francis Cyrus Hobart Hutchison, he died in Charlotte North Carolina. Her mother was Margret Lisle of Royston, Yorkshire England. She married Andrew Jackson in Carrickfergus about 1765. With her husband Andrew, she emigrated to America from Ireland about 1765. She and her husband Andrew settled in the Waxhaws area, of what was then North Carolina. She died during the American Revolutionary War from cholera, contracted while nursing Continental soldiers, as a nurse on a prison ship of the British.
