Take a slice through the history of this area. In the last 18,000 years this spot was lake bottom, in the bay, along the river and now part of the city. Each of these periods are represented by what falls to the bottom of the water. This sculpture shows how those deposits have settled over the years. After an earthquake this area was lifted 20 feet to where it stands now.
