To reach from US-1, between Sanford and Apex/Cary, take Exit 79 and go northwest for 0.3 mile on Moncure-Pittsboro Road. Turn right on Jordan Dam Rd and go about a half-mile. Turn left on unmarked gravel road (SR1971) for 0.4 mile. Monument is on left, at a dim woods road. It is on a bank about eight feet above SR1971, and about 35 feet west of the centerline. It is about 15 feet north of the the woods road. Monument projects 12 inches above ground, and can be seen from SR1971.

Marker No. 18 is 585 feet NW, through the woods. Both were placed by the US Corps of Engineers in 1967. There are numerous survey marks nearby. Monument Numbers 14 and 13 are referenced in deeds for adjoing properties and will be entered here when verified. Meanwhile, NCGS Station "Pitt" (EZ2926) is located at Exit 79. Another benchmark is in the steps to the furnace room at the nearby Moncure School. See GEOCACHING.COM for details.
