County of Statue: Lafayette County.
Location of Statue: main St., Central Park, Concordia.
Description of Statue: Standing figure of a World War I soldier. He stands at attention, with his rifle in his proper right hand.
Size of Statue: approx. 6 x 3 x 2 ft.; Base: approx. 6 x 4 x 4 ft.
Short History: Funds for this monument were raised by Concordia businesses, the G.A.R post, the American Legion Post and the American Legion Auxiliary. The cost was $600. Original plaque on base honored World War I veterans; it was replaced by a plaque honoring veterans of the Spanish American and Civil Wars as well.
