Purcell Falls is within the La Wis Wis campground of Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The trailhead to the falls is located halfway through the C loop of the campground, and is a short .25 mile hike to the falls.
The falls are a collection of four inviting cascades, with the largest being about 25' tall. The stream plunges into a series of small pools and then is channeled along chutes between the tiers. Trails lead to all sections of the falls, and some of the pools are perfect for a quick dip into frigidly cold water on a hot summer day.
Be careful of slippery rocks and shifting logs! Also, be respectful of nature and leave no trace; take care not to trample plants, moss, or cause erosion. Don't let children throw rocks, as birds nest in the sheltered cavities along the cliffs (we were lucky to see a nest of winter wrens on our visit).
