Long Description:
With over 180,000 speciments, the Morton Arboretum Herbarium is the third largest arboretum herbarium in North America. The primary emphasis of the herbarium collection is woody plants, but it also houses over 20,000 lichens.

The herbarium itself is tucked away in a corner of the Arboretum near the hedge collection and is not open to the general public.

However, in partnership with the Field Museum and the Chicago Botanic Gardens, the Morton Arboretum Herbarium provides an on-line herbarium dedicated to the natives plants found in the Chicago-land region.
