This field is our primary base of operations, located approximately 2.8 miles west from the stop light in Archer FL. on SR24. Turn right on the newly paved road at the Levy County line. Proceed 3/10ths of a mile to a red gate on your right.
The Runway is located on the top of a small hill and the area has few obstacles to interfere with the flying area. The runway here is grass and is well maintained by our members. Numerous setup tables are provided for the assembly and break down of your aircraft. There is a permanent "Ready Room" structure here to provide shelter from the elements and a chance to relax and swap "Hangar Stories" between flights.
A pit area is also available for any line maintenance that needs to be done, i.e. fueling, defueling and engine maintenance and any last minute checks. The pit area has permanent work stands that are placed to allow pilots to prepare for flight without having to kneel on the ground. The Pits are separated from the runway and shelter area by barriers. Five "Pilot Stations" are provided for pilots to fly from. We also have a concrete helipad available away from the runway to allow for vertical ops away from normal runway traffic. There are designated parking areas. Access is by combination lock.
There are usually club members around in the mornings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Saturday and Sunday is when you may find a fairly large group in the mornings. You may also find several members at this location during the same days in the late evening when it is cooling off. During the summer months our meetings are sometimes held here to take advantage of the late sunset and get some flying before and after the meeting.
