This eternal flame sits atop a granite monument. On one side of the monument is etched:
"Bowman War Memorial
Erected by the town of Bowman and American Legion Post No. 64"
On the other sides are etched:
"World War I" and a list of veterans' names and where they died.
"World War II" and a list of veterans' names and where they died.
"Viet Nam Conflict" and a list of veterans' names and where they died.
Next to the monument is a plaque reading:
"In Memory of Captain Richard A. Morris
Who in crashing his crippled jet plane at this spot February 19, 1965 and in giving his life may have saved the lives of many townspeople of Bowman.
Dedicated by the town of Bowman and the American Legion Post 64."
