The Janesville community gained a truly unique playground with completion of Peace Park Playground at Rockport Park.

The playground promotes peace and unity in the community by giving children a chance to learn about cultural diversity as they play. It was constructed by 2,500 community volunteers and $175,000 in donations.
Unique features include a two-story Native American teepee with reproduced Peace paintings inside by Janesville's own Gary Gandy and a Peace Pole and plaza. The peace pole, located at the site of a KKK rally, is the world's tallest at 52 feet and was dedicated on May 28, 2005. Inscription says "May Peace Prevail on Earth." Surrounding the pole is a world map and bronze inscriptions promoting peace. See waymark WM4EJ9.
Other popular features include a roller slide and spring teeter-totter. This play area is intended for children ages 6-12. Peace Park Playground is be low maintenance, disabled-accessible, and is entirely covered with rubber safety surfacing.
