Lakeside Cemetery Cannon - Holly, MI - Static Artillery Displays on Waymarking.com

While Harvey Jr, and I were trying to hunt down our third geocache, the weather wasn't going to cooperate, so we headed home. As we passed the local cemetery I noticed this cannon.

The date on the stone says 1897, so I'll take a stab in the dark and say that was when it was put in place.

Holly was still a young town when the Civil War broke out, but it certainly gave up it's share of men for the cause. A nearby monument indicates over a hundred men gave their lives from this area. (visit link)
