[On the other side of town is a marker to Stephen Elliott and its text is:
Brigadier General
STEPHEN ELLIOTT, CSA
Known for acts of bravery and outstanding leadership in the defense of Beaufort. This memorial is erected by the Stephen Elliott Chapter, of the United Daughters of the Confederacy opposite the home in which this Chapter was organized.
