The Buford Trout Hatchery is located downstream from Buford Dam on the Chattahoochee River. The facility is managed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resouces. The facility raises trout that are stocked into Georgia's trout streams. Both brown trout and rainbows are raised here. About 1 million trout are being raised at all times here.
This facility is also home to a nature trail that offers visitors the opportunity to observe not only the trout operation but excellent bird watching as well.
There is also a family friendly fishing lake available.
The web site here (
visit link) is excellent for giving the details of this fine facility.
