Quincy Mine Locomotives - 2 locomotives are on display at the Quincy Mine an Hoist site.
Both of these engines were built before 1900 and operated on a railroad named
the Quincy and Torch Lake Railroad. The Quincy & Torch Lake was a private line
operated by the Quincy Mining Company from 1888 to 1945.

The first engine is number #5 (or #34)it is a 2-8-0 36" gauge steam locomotive built by Baldwin in 1891 for a line called Hancock & Calumet, and named "Opechee". In 1901 the engine was sold to the Q&TL for use in the Quincy Mine railyards in Hancock, MI.

The second engine was #1 it is a 2-6-0 36" gauge steam locomotive also built
for the Q&TL and the Quincy Mine in Hancock, MI It was built by Brooks
Locomotive Works in 1889 and is named Thomas F Mason.
