Wings (2002)
by Darlene Nguyen-Ely

"Wings" is a work of optimism and spirit. As the structures of a bird might symbolize, "Wings" consists of two large flight elements, although no central core is present.

The statement by the artist indicates wings represent movement and freedom. Other descriptive words may apply as well: liberty, beginning, elation, and transition. It might be used to describe the movement of one class or group to a new, exciting frontier. It might be used to describe the shift of a thought process from confining to soaring. The use of "Wings" is a powerful image, one that has captivated the individual for ages.
