Points of View (2002)
by Pam Beyette, Michael Davis, Norie Sato and Richard Turner

From its prime location, "Points of View" is a dramatic statement, engaging the viewer to, among other reactions, take sides. Is the work literal? Symbolic? Can the very notion of justice be reduced to one view or the other (right or wrong)?

The work is a towering example of construction, geometry, space, and dimension. It consists of two large cones in opposition, one resting on the floor, and one affixed to the ceiling. The points come tantalizingly close to one another, raising questions from first view. Which cone is up, which is down? At what point do the elements touch? The artwork is literally the first (and possibly the last) thing many visitors see. But wait.. is the work a continuation of the door handles used to enter the building? Many questions are raised, and it is up to the individual to decide.
