Long Description:
According to the information cards placed to either side of this artwork, this mural decorated the wall north of the entrance to the Seattle City Light Building at 1013 Third Avenue, Seattle. That builing was abandoned in 1996 when it was determined that seismic improvements the building would be too expensive. The mural was then cut into five pieces and moved to this Museum.
This artwork was created by Jean Cory Beall in 1958, and the offical name for it is:
That Man May Use It Freely as the Air He Breathes,
the Waters of the Rivers, the Winds of Heaven
This title is clearly not "Water Into Electricity", yet that is a good description of the artwork itself.
This mural is large - it is 8 feet tall and 32 feet long! In order to photograph it I had to take pictures of it in three sections.
There was no fee charged to use the restrooms, so one can easily go see this mural for one's self.
