Located at the entrance of Jefferson Park Golf Course in Beacon Hill, this piece is a sculpture of a golfer with his club broken off, and a bronze bust of Sherwood Gillespie, a community activist. Gillespie, an avid golfer, was known and honored for introducing the idea of municipal golf courses to Seattle. This is a popular south end golf spot and beautiful neighborhood park which is currently under renovation and soon to become Beacon Hill’s natural wonderland, complete with trail systems, bridges and zip lines, circa 2009.
