This is the "Welcome to North Carolina" sign when traveling along Rt 168 sourth from Norfolk going to the beaches. They've recently widened this from two lanes to four lanes, but it's still a solid stream of traffic all summer long. There's a neat store that I'm standing in front of when I took the picture that straddles the state line. On the North Carolina side they sell tobacco which has less state tax than Virginia, and on the Virginia side they sell most of the other stuff.
