The Drane house was built in 1798 by William Lamar and was given to his sister and her husband, Priscilla and James Drane in about 1800. It is one of the few remaining examples of a frontier plantation house. Drane originally tried to plant tobacco but was unsuccessful and later grew crops more suited to the climate. The property was occupied until about 1950.
A restoration of the House was completed in 1994 and the grounds can be visited. Tours can be arranged by appointment by contacting the Accident (MD) Town Hall.
