Constructed in 1837 by Hezekiah Barnard at a cost of $7000 , the building is reputed to be the largest cobblestone school ever built and in it's current use as a town hall, the only 3 story cobblestone town hall in America. It served as a school for 101 yrs., from 1837 until 1938. Today the building houses the town hall and city courts.
