Just inside the main doors is this piece, created by artist J. van der Smissen. It was donated to the library by Dr. and Mrs. E.A. Asselbergs in May of 1985.
Featured in the image is my beautiful wife, teacup, reading the latest Aunt Dimity novel "Aunt Dimity: Vampire Hunter" which is the 12th in the series. The series are classified as 'cozy mysteries' and more info can be found at The Official Aunt Dimity Website.
To get your version of the above photo you may need to have maintenance move some plants which again they were very willing to do. Featured just behind the bench is a white owl, which is one of two that adorned the second St. Catharines library which was a Carnegie building, unfortunately demolished in the late 70's.
*** It is important to note that any photography taken inside the library requires permission from staff to ensure that no children are accidentally included in the image. The staff are quite helpful in this repsect as there are many items of interest in the area and inside. Please speak to a staff member first. ***
