Historical Name: George Howe Description: Bridgewater town hall was named by George Howe after his home on Oneida County, New York. This sight has been the center of community activities since the founding of the township in 1832. The first town hall was built here in 1856. It was later razed and a new hall built in 1882 on the original foundations. Sharing this sight is a township cemetery with graves dating back to the 1830's. The Bridgewater Center school, one of nine school districts at the time, also shared this site. Washtenaw County BR-8 Historical Marker.
