Like its counterpart Oshun Throne, Shango Throne is a dominating presence at the Garfield Community Center.

Standing 10 feet high, Shango Throne towers over visitors to the Garfield Community Center. The community’s children participated in the creation of Shango Throne by providing the juice can lids, wood blocks and metal objects that were used in its construction. The brainchild of Marita Dingus, Shango Throne honors the Thunder God in Nigerian mythology. Given that the god Shango was the partner of the River Goddess, Oshun, the close proximity of Shango Throne to Oshun Throne in the Garfield Community Center seems only appropriate.
