The "Last Conversation Piece" is a grouping of 5 human-like figures with rounded bases, almost like punching bags. They seem to be wandering the lawn adjacent to the Hirshhorn Museum.
The piece was sculpted by artist Juan Muñoz in 1994 and 1995 and was purchased by the museum in 1995.
Juan Muñoz was a Spanish artist who became well known in the 1980's for his installation pieces which used architectural perspective to explore the theme of isolation. He died of a heart attack in 2001 at the age of 48.
