In back of the clock is a really interesting sculpture of a fish. The clock has four faces and is shaped like a cube. Unfortunately, only two of the faces are in operation.
In cursive writing, each clock face reads: "Hamilton Watch & Clock Co., Lancaster, PA". I have never seen a town clock like this before; it is definitely unique in my experience. The clock stands on a truncated pyramid of stone block, about 2 feet off the ground.
The Hamilton Watch Company came into existence in 1892. The name Hamilton was selected to honor Andrew Hamilton, original owner of the site of Lancaster. Hamilton was granted the land by William Penn's heirs and is credited with founding the city of Lancaster with his son James.
