This weir is situated on the river to provide a deeper water level for boats. The area is very picturesque and enjoyed by all. The nearby bridges are a popular roadway between the villages of Oakley and Bromham. On the river is an island, once part of the old mill which no longer stands, fishing is popular here.

The River Great Ouse is now regulated to control the levels of the water rather than just letting the sea regulate the flow of water. This system works well to help when the area is flooded.
