Once upon a time there was a beautiful castle that surrounded this chimney. A long trail of wide, marble steps led up to the castle that sat on a grassy knoll back hundreds of yards from the roadway. Many well-known and some not-so-well-known people would leave Fresno, Calfornia in their splendid horse-drawn carriages and head for the Sierras, stopping here for the night. They would rise and spend the early morning hours hunting exotic wild game in the brushy plain between the castle and the rocky outcroppings to the North, before continuing on their journey. You can still find many reminders of that bygone era - jewels and coins left behind by unsuccessful hunters and the various skeletal remains of the unsucessful hunted animals.
Now the location of a geocache, this chimney gets lots of visitors.
