Made of bronze, the Chief Seattle fountain, which is located at Pioneer Square in downtown Seattle, was designed by James Wehn in 1909. Chief Sealth, better known as Chief Seattle, led the Suquamish and Duwamish Native American tribes in the 1800's. The city of Seattle was named after him. The Chief Seattle fountain is situated at Yesler and First Avenue right by a night club named after Doc Maynard who was a friend of the Chief.
