The Branch opened June 30, 1958. Three separate renovations in 1962, 1976 and 1993 nearly doubled the size of the Branch to its present size. The 1993 renovation provided greater accessibility for the elderly and disabled.
The name for the Tesson Ferry Branch is the same as one of the major intersecting roads where the library is located. The Branch is centrally situated in the South County area at the intersection of Lindbergh Boulevard and Tesson Ferry Road (Highway 21). Tesson Ferry Road was named to honor Michael Tesson. Mr. Tesson settled in the area in 1821 to oversee the operation of the ferry that crossed the Meramec River approximately where Tesson Ferry Road presently bridges the river. ~ from official website
